Michaela Elston scored her second goal off a nice pass from
Mikayla Szudera. The Panthers responded with a goal, to cut the lead to 4-1. However, the Marlins added two more goals from Kennedy-Butler off a pass from Elston, and Elston scored the team's sixth with 20 seconds left in the first quarter.
VWU's defense held strong in the second quarter, as they shut out Ferrum and only allowed two shots the whole quarter. Pfister opened the scoring with an assist from Kennedy-Butler. Then, captain
Brooke Morris scored an unassisted goal as she read a pass from the goalie to intercept and took it to the net to give the Marlins an 8-1 lead.
Natalie Dunn and Kennedy-Butler scored back-to-back unassisted goals to lead 10-1. After seven scoreless minutes,
Mikayla Szudera scored a goal killing a penalty with an assist from Dunn to take an 11-1 lead into the break.
The Panthers bounced back in the third quarter, outscoring the host 2-1.

The Marlins looked to put the game away to start the fourth, as
Michaela Elston scored back-to-back goals to give VWU a 14-3 lead with 10:55 left in the game. However, the Panthers scored three goals on man-advantage opportunities to cut the lead to 14-6.
Brittneyann Hoover improved to a 3-9 record on the year, allowed six goals, and registered eight saves in the win.
