The Virginia Wesleyan baseball team (4-19-1, 3-6-1 ODAC) lost to the Hampden-Sydney College Tigers 6-3.
The Tigers struck first, putting up four runs in the first inning for a 4-0 lead.
Hampden-Sydney added another run in the second to push the lead to 5-0, before scoring again in the fifth for a 6-0 ball game.
In the seventh inning, James Gifford doubled to left field to give the Marlins their first run of the game, driving in Samuel Kasprow to make the game 6-1.
In the top of the eighth, Trent Hanchey doubled down the right-field line and scored Matt Sinko. Then, Kasprow was walked with the bases loaded to score Connor Hall and made the game its eventual final score of 6-3.
Samuel Kaspow went 1-for-3 at-bat with a triple, scored one run, and tallied one RBI, Connor Hall went 3-for-5 with a double and scored a run for the Marlins, while teammate Matt Sinko went 3-for-5 and scored a run.
Nick Beatty started for the Marlins pitched 4.1 innings, gave up four hits, three walks, and six runs, and recorded six strikeouts. Sal Lettieri pitched 3.0 innings, allowed no hits, no runs, and recorded two strikeouts.
