The Virginia Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team (6-10, 3-7 ODAC) fall to Bridgewater 21-9.
Sam Edwards led the team with one goal and two assists, had five ground balls, won three face offs, and caused two turnovers,
Mark Sprague scored three goals, had three ground balls, and caused two turnovers, and
Liam Murphy tallied two goals, had six ground balls, and caused four turnovers.
The Eagles came out strong, scoring six unanswered goals before
Liam Murphy scored to cut the lead to 6-1. Bridgewater scored three more goals to lead 9-1 after the first quarter.
Bridgewater scored one goal to start the second quarter. Then,
Myzaiah Garris scored off a feed from
Sam Edwards to bring the score to 10-2. The Eagles scored four goals before halftime to lead 14-2.
In the third quarter, the host increased their lead to 17-2, before
Sam Edwards stopped the bleeding with a score, followed by another goal from teammate
Jackson Dinger to cut the lead to 17-4. The Eagles scored two more goals to lead 19-4.
The Marlins came out in the final quarter on a mission going on a 3-1 run.
Mark Sprague scored the first goal, then
Jackson Rockhill scored off a feed from
Sam Edwards, and
Liam Murphy scored to cut the lead to 20-7.
Mark Sprague scored a man-up goal at the 4:21 mark to cut the lead down to 20-8. The Eagles responded with one goal, but Sprague beat his defender with 12 seconds left and scored a goal to bring the score to 21-9.
