The Virginia Wesleyan University softball team (28-8, 12-4 ODAC) defeated conference opponent EMU 8-1 in game one, and game two won 14-0 in five innings. With the sweep, the Marlins clinch a playoff berth while also moving up to second in the standing, and currently have the most conference wins of any team.
Alison Pollack led the offense going 3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles, scoring three runs, and tallied seven RBI,
Emma Adams went 2-for-5 with a homer, scored one run, with two RBI, and
Sarah Prosser went 4-for-5, scored three runs, and had three RBI.
Game One:
After three scoreless innings, the Marlins got on the board with a solo home run from
Alison Pollack to lead 1-0.
Virginia Wesleyan scored six runs in the top of the fifth as
Julia Piotrowski doubled down the right-field line to lead off,
Olivia Knight was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second, and
Halee Hawkins flew out to center field to move the runners into scoring position.
Sarah Prosser hit an RBI single to the shortstop to score Piotrowski.
Laci Campbell was walked to load the bases followed by a double from
Alison Pollack that scored all three runners to take a 5-0 lead.
Emma Adams hit a home run to left field to extend the Marlins' lead to 7-0.
The Royals scored one run in the bottom of the fifth to bring the score to 7-1, but the Marlins scored one run in the top of the seventh as
Halee Hawkins hit a lead-off single bunt and moved to third with a
Makiya Himes double down the left field line. Then,
Brooke Powell singled to left field to score Hawkins and seal the 8-1 win over the Royals.

Emily Seale recorded her 14th win of the season, pitched 5.0 innings, allowed one run, six hits, and registered one strikeout.
Game Two:
The Marlins wasted no time scoring in the top of the first, starting with a lead-off single from
Sarah Prosser who stole second before
Laci Campbell laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Prosser to third. Then,
Alison Pollack flew out to right field to score Prosser.
VWU's offense exploded in the second innings as
Brooke Powell reached first on an error by the shortstop. Next,
Olivia Knight tripled to center field to score Powell doubling the Marlins' lead.
Lauren Bible singled through the left side to score Knight, Bible stole second followed by a bunt single from Anderson to move the runner to third.
Sarah Prosser singled up the middle to score Bible and Anderson and give the Marlins a 5-0 lead. With Prosser on second, Campbell tripled to left field to add another run, then Pollack reached on a fielders choice that scored Campbell from third to take a 7-0 lead.
Virginia Wesleyan added three more runs in the third innings as Knight started off the inning with a double, followed by a single up the middle, and
Brooke Anderson walked to load the bases. A wild pitch scored Bible to give the Marlins a 9-0 lead, then a single by
Jaya Diggs-Hagwood scored Anderson from second to lead 10-0.
VWU added one more run in the fourth as
Abigail Craige reached on a throwing error by the shortstop before
Elizabeth Pennington doubled to left field to put runners on the corners for Powell who grounded out to third and scored Craige to lead 11-0.
The Marlins extended their lead in the fifth as
Joslyn Woodard reached first on an error, and
Emily Halloway singled through the left side to put runners on the corners. Then, Pollack doubled to score Woodard to lead 12-0, before Craige singled through the left side to score Halloway. With runners at first and third Pennington flew out to center field that scored Pollack to seal the 14-0 win over the Royals.
