Box Score 2 The Virginia Wesleyan University softball team (17-5) swept non-conference opponent Mary Washington winning the first game 8-1 and taking game two 4-2.
Julia Piotrowski went 4-for-7, with four RBI, and pitched 1.0 innings with one strikeout.
Game One:
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first and held that lead until the fifth inning. The Marlins got on the board in the fifth, starting with a single from
Mackenzie Myers, and pinch runner
Emily Halloway made it to third, before
Laci Campbell singled to center field to score Halloway. Campbell stole second, and
Sarah Prosser singled to score Campbell from second base.
Alison Pollack singled to put runners on the corners before
Julia Piotrowski singled to score both Prosser and Pollack to lead 4-1.
Virginia Wesleyan tallied four more runs in the top of the seventh.
Joslyn Woodard began the inning with a single to right field,
Brooke Anderson pinch ran and stole second base, followed by a single to center field from Campbell that scored a run. Pollack singled to left field that scored Prosser from second. Boothe reached on an error by the third baseman that scored Pollack from third to lead 7-1.
Madison Hudson grounded out to second with runners on second and third scored
Halee Hawkins to extend their lead to 8-1.
Julia Piotrowski went 3-for-4 with two RBI,
Alison Pollack went 2-for-4, scored two runs, and had one RBI, and
Sarah Prosser went 1-for-4, scored two runs, and recorded one RBI.
Emily Seale pitched 6.0 innings, allowed one run on three hits, and struck out nine.
Game Two:
The Marlins went up 1-0 with a home run to left field. The Eagles responded with one run in the second to tie the game at 1-1.
VWU extended their lead in the top of the third as
Sarah Prosser started the rally with a single to left field. Then,
Alison Pollack tripled to center field to take a 2-1 lead.
Julia Piotrowski singled with Pollack at third to give the Marlins a 3-1 lead.
With runners on second and third, Piotrowski hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Prosser from third and lead 4-1.
Mary Washington scored one in the seventh to cut the lead down to 4-2.

Alison Pollack went 2-for-4 with a double and triple, scored one run, and had one RBI, and
Autumn Boothe went 1-for-2 with a homer run.
Lauren Bible got the win in the circle, pitched 7.0 innings, allowed two runs on eight hits, and had one strikeout.
