The Virginia Wesleyan University men's basketball team beats William Peace 92-48 in home opener. This is the largest season-opening win since the 2019-2020 season when the Marlins beat Pfeiffer 109-61. 

The Marlins played a physical game that led to a 46-16 advantage in the paint, recorded 21 points off turnovers compared to the Pacers' 1, and a 17-6 advantage in second-chance points. 

Virginia Wesleyan started strong jumping out to an 8-0 lead in the first three and a half minutes of play. The Pacers went on an 8-2 run to cut the lead to 10-8. William Peace kept the Marlins within one possession.VWU ended the first half outscoring the Pacers 16-4. A run fueled by nine points from Omari Deveaux to lead 36-22 at halftime. 

The Marlins kept their momentum going for the first half and built a 45-24 lead at the 17:16 mark. The Marlins held a 20-point lead until three straight three-pointers from Eric Rowland and two made by Jordan Crump gave Virginia Wesleyan a 66-40 lead. VWU continued to build their lead and won their home opener 92-48. 

Omari DeVeaux led the team with 21 points shooting 9-for-13 from the field and 1-for-3 from beyond the arc, tallied five rebounds, one steal, and one assist, Khai Seargeant scored 15 points shooting 3-for-4 from the field, and shot 9-for-10 from the free throw line.

Waylo Wilson was third on the team in scoring with 14 points shooting 6-for-9 from the floor, nine rebounds, two assists, and one block, and teammate Jordan Crump played a team-high 28 minutes, scored 11 points, shooting 4-for-7 from the field, and 3-for-5 from three-point territory, had two rebounds, and two assists.
