Box Score 2 LYNCHBURG, Virginia - The No. 11 ranked Virginia Wesleyan softball team got back on track with a pair of wins over the WildCats of Randolph College in a doubleheader in Lynchburg, VA.

INSIDE THE SCORE
The Marlins struck first and early scoring five runs over the opening two innings. The first run, the only one of the first inning, came off of Julia Sinnett's bat as she drove a hit over the left field wall for a solo home run.
Virginia Wesleyan took advantage of some Randolph errors to put run runs in the top of the second. Madison Hudson, Halee Hawkins, Ariana Rolle and Maria Weddle all cross home plate in the second inning.
The WildCats found their way on to the score board with a single run in the bottom of the second. The run was the only one for Randolph in the game.
VWU responded with two runs in the top of the third and three runners in the top of the fourth to give VWU a 10-1 lead.
In the third inning, an Ariana Rolle double scored the two runners as Haleigh Settle and Julia Piotrowski crossed home plate.
In the fourth inning, Caitlin Myers, Jenna Laird, and Settle all scored, putting the Marlins up by eight of more runs after five innings to win via the mercy rule, 10-1.

INSIDE THE SCORE
The Marlins got on the scoreboard first in game two with a pair of runs in the lead off inning. A Julia Sinnett double to left center scored Ariana Rolle, while Sinnett scored later on a groundout by Madison Hudson.
VWU struck again in the top of the third with two more runs. Caitlin Myers doubled down the left field line to score Sinnett, while Myers came home off a Madison Hudson center field single.
The WildCats jumped onto the score board in the bottom of the fourth inning pulling within one, 4-3. Neither team found a run in the fifth and sixth, but the Marlins answered in the top of the seventh with the three last runs of the game. Another Sinnett double scored Rolle & Weddle. Sinnett later came home on a Karlee Fretz sac fly.

The Marlins return to the field again on Saturday, April 23, when they travel to Bridgewater, VA to take on the Eagles of Bridgewater College in another ODAC doubleheader. First pitch of game one is slated for 1 PM.
