Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan defeated the Falcons of Pfeiffer University on Wednesday afternoon in a midweek nonconference contest at Kenneth R. Perry Field at TowneBank Park in Virginia Beach, VA. VWU scored 12 runs against the Falcons in the 12-11 win.

The Marlins struck early getting on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a trio of runs. A Connor Hall double scored the two lead off batters, Jaelen Hines and Trent Hanchey, for the first pair of runs, while Hall came home on a double by Miles Christian.
After a scoreless second inning for both teams, the Falcons put up four in the top of the third to take the 4-3, one-run lead. Virginia Wesleyan answered in the bottom of the fourth with a game tying run as Garrett Lyons came home on a passed ball.
Over the course of the next two innings, Pfeiffer scored five runs, two in the fifth and three in the sixth, taking a 9-4 lead. VWU answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth to pul within one run, 9-8. A pair of passed balls and a wild pitch scored Sam Kasprow, Chris Mitchell, and Hanchey respectively, while the fourth run of the inning, scored by Matt Sinko, came in during a fielders choice play on Ronaldo Del Duca's at-bat.
The Falcons increased their lead to two runs, 10-8, with a solo score in the top of the seventh, but a Marlins push in the bottom half of the inning put VWU ahead by one run, 11-10. A Hall triple drove in two runs with Kasprow and Hanchey coming home, while Hall scored on a John Bastiaans single up the middle.
Virginia Wesleyan added one run to their score increasing the lead to two runs, 12-10, as Mitchell stole home.
Pfeiffer, got the last run of the game in the top of the ninth as the Falcons scored on a bases loaded walk that put the final score at 12-11.
