INSIDE THE SCORE
The Marlins opened the game with four quick points but soon found themselves trailing 5-4 before knotting the score at eight all at the 16:25 mark. Over the next five minutes, WLU went on an 11-5 run taking a 19-13 lead as the clock ticked down towards 11 minutes left in the half.
Corey Pelham scored four points off a three-pointer and free throw play, pulling the Marlins within two, 19-17, but the Generals took off to close out the first half on a 26-8 run taking a 45-25 lead into the break.
Washington and Lee started the second half on a 10-3 run going up 55-28 after the first four minutes of play. Virginia Wesleyan went on a 14-10 run over the next six minutes putting the score at 65-42 with ten minutes left in regulation. The two squads closed out the game on an 18-16 run with the Generals securely claiming victory with a 25 point win, 83-58.
MARLIN LEADERS
The Marlins were led by
Anthony Jackson with nine points.
Jordan Radford was close behind with eight points and
Amarion Wilson added seven. Wilson led the Marlins with six rebounds.
GENERALS LEADERS
The Generals were led by Richie Manigault with 19 points. Gus Wise and Sam Wise were the other two Generals win double digits with 17 and 11 points respectively. Sam Wise led the team with 10 rebounds.
UP NEXT
The Marlins return to action on Monday, February 7, when they travel to Harrisonburg, VA, to face the Royals of Eastern Mennonite University. This contest was rescheduled from earlier this season and will tip off at 5 PM.
