Box Score 2 SALISBURY, Maryland - The No. 2 Virginia Wesleyan softball team dropped both games int the doubleheader against the No. 8 Sea Gulls of Salisbury University on Wednesday afternoon in Salisbury, MD.

INSIDE THE SCORE
The Marlins started the first game of the doubleheader off on a strong note as catcher Caitlin Myers homered to left center field in the top of the first inning for the first run of the game. Salisbury answered in the bottom half of the inning sending a run across the plate on a groundout to first.
The next two innings were scoreless for both teams, but the Marlins broke the tie in the top of the fourth as Jaya Diggs-Hagwood singled to right field which sent Autumn Boothe home. VWU held SU off the scoreboard in the bottom half of the inning but a big fifth inning for the Sea Gulls gave the home team a 4-2 lead heading into the sixth inning. A pair of home runs for Salisbury in the sixth gave the Sea Gulls the advantage.
VWU left runners on the bags in the top of the sixth and seventh innings but could not get anyone home to erase SU's lead as the Sea Gulls took game one 4-2.
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN LEADERS
- Caitlin Myers with the home run garnered one RBI and one run on one hit.
- Jaya Diggs-Hagwood drove in one RBI on one hit in three at-bats.
- Julia Sinnett and Autumn Boothe both recorded two hits contributing to the teams seven total.
- Emily Seale (L: 1-1) threw all six innings giving up four runs on six hits while striking out three batters or 25 faced.

INSIDE THE SCORE
The Sea Gulls took early command of the second game putting six runs on the board in the first two innings, including a five-hole in the bottom of the second inning. The Marlins got a pair of runners on the bases in the top of the third inning but could not bat them around to score leaving the two runners stranded.
Salisbury added another run in the bottom of the third going up 7-0, but the Virginia Wesleyan defense held the Sea Gulls from scoring further as SU left three runners on the bags to end the inning.
Neither team scored in the fourth inning and the Marlins left two stranded on the bases in the top of the fifth as the Sea Gulls claimed game two 7-0 in five innings due to darkness.
