Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan Men's basketball team defeated the Saints of Marymount University on Tuesday evening in Arlington, VA. The Marlins held off the Saints 65-56 to improve to 5-0 on the season.
Amarion Wilson led VWU with 14 points and
Eric Rowland tallied 13 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Virginia Wesleyan took the early 8-2 lead before a 6-0 run by Marymount evened the score at the 17-minute mark. The Saints took a one-point lead, 9-8, following a free throw, however, the Marlins scored six in a row taking a 14-9 lead. MU pulled back within one, 16-15, but VWU reclaimed an eight-point lead, 23-15, after a 7-0 run capped by a layup by
Khai Seargeant at 11:09. The Saints pulled within three, 23-20, before the Marlins reopened an 11-point lead, 33-22, by the 5:27 mark. The final five minutes saw Marymount go on a 14-6 run pulling within two, 36-34, at the halftime break.
The first four minutes saw the teams maintain a two-point difference, 40-38, however by the 10-minute mark, VWU claimed a 10-point lead, 53-43, following a three-pointer from
Eric Rowland. The Saints chipped away at the Marlins lead, who lead as much as 12 points, 57-45, just before the six-minute mark, to trail by four, 60-56, with two minutes to play. Virginia Wesleyan scored five points in the final two minutes while holding Marymount off the board to pick up the 65-56 victory.
