Box Score LYNCHBURG, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball team fell to the Hornets from the University of Lynchburg 90-55 on Wednesday evening at Turner Gymnasium in Lynchburg, VA.

INSIDE THE SCORE
The Marlins found the scoreboard first off a three pointer by
Lenah Clements. Lynchburg took off on a 13-2 run over the next three minutes before
Bianca Atkinson hit a three to slow the Hornets run putting the score at 13-8 with 5:11 remaining in the first quarter. THe teams were neck and neck the remainder of the first with UL leading the run slightly 9-8 taking a 22-16 lead into the second.
Lynchburg scored the first eight points of the second quarter taking a 30-16 lead before
Jessica Jennings connected on a jumper to halt the UL scoring drive and start a Marlins 7-0 run pulling within seven points, 30-23 with 6:32 remaining in the half. The Hornets closed out the second quarter on a 19-12 run taking a 14 point, 49-35 lead into the halftime break.
VWU was held to seven points in the third quarter while UL added 19 points to their total leading 68-42 heading into the final quarter.
Lynchburg opened its largest lead of the evening in the fourth quarter going ahead by 35 points, the margin the Hornets won by at the final buzzer. Despite VWU scoring 13 points in the fourth, UL put up 22 driving the final score up to 90-55.
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN LEADERS
The Marlins were led by
Jessica Jennings with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Nat Collier added nine points while Bianca Atkins,
Lenah Clements, and
Jada Norman all contributed six points.
LYNCHBURG LEADERS
The Hornets were led by Erin Green with 16 points. Olivia Harris and Kate Kolb each tallied 15 points while Lizzie Davis added 10 of her own.
