The Marlins found the scoreboard first off a three-pointer by
Corey Pelham but the Panthers countered quickly evening the score with a three of their own. A jumper by
Tim Fisher spurred a 7-1 run by the Marlins capped by a three from
Jordan Crump as VWU led 10-4 at the 17:26 mark. Over the next four minutes Ferrum chipped away at Virginia Wesleyan's lead pulling within four points, 19-15, following an 11-9 run. The Marlins regained a seven point lead, and maintained it thanks to three three-pointers by the Marlins, two from
Omari DeVeaux and one from
Anthony Jackson, as VWU led 34-27 at the 7:12 mark. Following a Panthers bucket, the Marlins went on a seven point run opening up a 12 point lead 41-29 with 2:40 in the opening half. Ferrum put up eight points in the final minutes before halftime while Virginia Wesleyan scored six taking a 10-point, 47-37, advantage into the break.
Ferum opened the second half with a 14-12 run as the Panthers pulled within five points, 59-54 by the 13:30 mark. The Marlins reclaimed their double digit lead of 14 points after Fisher sunk a pair of free throws putting the score at 71-57 with 10:15 to play. Following a pair of FC free throws, VWU went on an 8-0 run taking a 20-point lead, 79-59, with seven minutes remaining on the clock. The Marlins managed to keep the Panthers at bay the remaining seven minutes to pull out the 89-72 win.

Tim Fisher with 24 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.
Corey Pelham and
Anthony Jackson each collected 15 points a piece while
Omari DeVeaux added 12 points to round out the Marlins in double digits.
PANTHERS LEADERS
The Panthers were led by Kajuan Madden-McAfee with 20 points while James Smith Jr. added 19 and Bryce Hall contributed 11.
