Marlins place three on NFCA All-American Teams; Goldyn named Division III Catcher of the Year & earns the NFCA Golden Shoe

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) revealed today the 55 players voted to the 2021 NFCA Division III All-America teams. This year's three squads are comprised of student-athletes from 41 different programs representing the NCAA's eight regions.

Representing the Marlins on first team were seniors Jessica Goldyn and Hanna Hull while freshman Emily Seale earned third team honors from the Coaches Association. Jessica Goldyn brought home two of the four major awards given out each year as she was named the Diamond Sports/NFCA Division III Catcher of the Year and the New Balance/NFCA Golden Shoe honoree.

Goldyn helped the No. 2 Marlins advanced to their third NCAA finals in four full seasons with a 6-5 victory over No. 10 The College of New Jersey on Sunday afternoon in the Atlantic Regional final held in Virginia Beach, VA. She heads into the Championship Tournament hitting .493 with 61 runs, 75 hits, 20 doubles, an NCAA-leading nine triples, six homers, 50 RBI, 29 walks and just three strikeouts in 184 plate appearances. Goldyn also is the NCAA leader in stolen bases, with 69 steals in 71 attempts, and is the fourth Virginia Wesleyan player to earn Golden Shoe recognition as the top basestealer for the season in Division III.

Hanna Hull earned first-team at-large honors after another impressive season for the Marlins. The hurler collected a 19-3 record in the circle this year en route to breaking the NCAA Career Pitching Wins record, formerly 124, as she now has 128 in her career. Also in her career Hull has 1,328 and is four strikeouts away from tying for fourth in the NCAA record book. This season alone, Hull has appeared in 28 games making 23 starts. She has thrown a team high 129.2 innings during which she has given up 32 runs on 58 hits. Hull has 175 strikeouts this season and has walked 89 batters en route to a 1.40 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. 

Freshman Emily Seale earned third-team All-American honors after being named to the NFCA All-Atlantic Region first-team and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference second-team. The Madison, VA native has made 30 appearances with 23 starts in teh circle. Overall on the season, Seale has collected a 21-2 win-loss record in 128.1 innings pitched. The right handed pitcher has given up 36 runs on 96 hits while striking out 60 batters and walking 28. The freshman has a team best 1.20 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP.
