Box Score 2 VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The No. 2 Virginia Wesleyan softball team swept the Eagles of Bridgewater College in a midweek ODAC doubleheader at Tom and Betty Broyles Field at TowneBank Park in Virginia Beach, VA.

GAME RUNDOWN
- Bridgewater got the scoring started with a single run in the top of the first inning while the Eagles kept the Marlins off the board in the bottom half of the inning.
- Virginia Wesleyan responded in the bottom of the second with a single run to knot the score at one-all. The Marlin's run was scored by Katelyn Biando after Julie Fassl hit a single down the leftfield line.
- The next five innings were a pitching and defensive battle between two competitive teams with neither team breaking the tie before extra innings were needed.
- VWU got out of the top of the eighth with Bridgewater leaving two runners on base.
- The Marlins in the bottom of the eighth advanced Julia Sinnett from second to third on a sacrifice groundout by Danielle Stewart and Biando ended the game with a walkoff single up the middle to score Sinnett for the game winning run.

- After a scoreless first inning, the Marlins put a pair of runs on the board in the bottom of the second as Karlee Fretz homered over the left field wall, scoring Katelyn Biando on the play, to take a 2-0 lead.
- VWU added a third run in the bottom of the third as Julia Sinnett singles through the left side that scored Jessica Goldyn.
- Bridgewater had a big top of the fourth putting four runs on the board off two home runs, one that drive in three RBI.
- The Eagles added a fifth run to their total in the top of the sixth to put the Eagles lead at 5-3.
- Virginia Wesleyan reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the sixth adding three runs to their total putting the score at 6-5.
- Arianna Rolle drove home Krissy D'Arco on a single through the right side, while Goldyn doubled to left field which scored Makenzie Watts and Rolle.
- BC added one last run in the top of the seventh to knot the score at six-all while VWU answered in the bottom half of the innings as Julie Fassl singled to centerfield for a walkoff RBI that scored Haleigh Settle to put the find score at 7-6.
