LYNCHBURG, Virginia - The No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan softball team swept the Hornets from the University of Lynchburg in a weekend conference doubleheader in Lynchburg, VA.

- Virginia Wesleyan got things started scoring three runs in the opening inning. VWU's runs were scored off a pair of doubles, one from Danielle Stewart and Katelyn Biando, to send Jessica Goldyn, Madison Glaubke, and Stewart across home plate.
- The Marlins added two more runs in the top of the third to take a 5-0 lead as a Julie Fassl double scored Stewart and Biando.
- Lynchburg got on the board in the bottom of the third preventing the shutout while Virginia Wesleyan added three more in the top of the fourth taking an 8-1 lead. VWU's runs came from Ariana Rolle, Goldyn, and Glaubke.
- UL added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth closing the VWU lead to five runs, 8-3.
- Fassl scored a single run in the top of the fifth on an error during Rolle's at-bat while the Marlins added three more in the top of the sixth to win 12-3. Glaubke, Julia Sinnett and Stewart all crossed home plate for the final VWU runs.

- The Marlins again got things going in the first inning with a single run scored by Julia Sinnett off a double from Danielle Stewart.
- VWU added a second run in the top of the third as Jessica Goldyn scored off a Madison Gluabke single.
- UL scored a single run in the bottom of the third to put the score at 2-1, but a Karlee Fretz home run over the left center field wall scored two as Katelyn Biando came home on the play giving the Marlins a 4-1 lead.
- The Hornets added a solo run in the bottom of the forth and both teams added three apiece in the fifth inning pushing the score up to 7-5. The Marlins runs came from Goldyn and Glaubke who came home on a Sinnett double while Sinnett scored off a Biando single to center.
- Virginia Wesleyan added four more runs in the top of the sixth to take an 11-5 lead that they held until the end to clinch the sweep. Doubles from Sinnett and Stewart scored Goldyn and Sinnett, while Brooke Anderson came home on a bases loaded walk and Kayla Womack scored on a bases loaded single by Ariana Rolle.
