Women's Soccer falls one-nil to Washington and Lee

LEXINGTON, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team fell to the Generals of Washington and Lee University on Sunday afternoon in Lexington, VA.

FIRST HALF

  • Washington and Lee found the scoreboard first four minutes and 20 seconds into the game on an unassisted goal by Sydney von Rosenberg.
  • Virginia Wesleyan got off four shots in the first half, two on goal, however the Marlins could not find the back of the net in the first half as they trailed 1-0 at the break.

SECOND HALF

  • VWU again managed to get off four shots in the second half, one on goal, while W&L took eight shots in the half. The Marlins did hold the Generals from adding an additional score to the board as the score sat 1-0 at the final horn.

KEY STATS

  • Caroline Smith and Reina Araujo each got off two shots in the match. 
  • Rachel Quigley (L:) took the loss playing all 90 minutes between the pipes allowing one goal while making three saves. 
UP NEXT
The Marlins return to action next on Sunday, March 28, when they return to Virginia Beach to host the Panthers of Ferrum College in game one of a men's and women's doubleheader. Kick off is scheduled for 2 PM with the men's game to follow 25 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
