Glaubke leads Marlins with three home runs in crushing win over Guilford

GREENSBORO, North Carolina - The No. 2 Virginia Wesleyan softball team crushed the Quakers of Guilford College in an ODAC doubleheader in Greensboro, NC.

GAME RUNDOWN

  • Both teams went scoreless in the first and second innings but the Marlins bats came to life in the third inning as VWU posted nine runs in the half inning.
  • Jessica Goldyn recorded the first run after scoring on a fielding error by the centerfielder.
  • Danielle Stewart double to right field that scored Madison Glaubke and Julia Sinnett followed home on the next play, a single down the rightfield line to put the score at 3-0.
  • A sac fly by Julie Fassl scored Stewart for the fourth run while the fifth was scored by Katelyn Biando ona single from Kayla Womack.
  • A Goldyn groundout scored Brooke Anderson for run number six and Glaubke drove in the next three runs on a homer over the left field wall to put VWU up 9-0.
  • The Marlins added five more runs in the top of the fourth to take a 14-0 lead. Julie Fassl scored first as Krissy D'Arco reached first on a fielding error with the bases loaded. 
  • Goldyn doubled to left center to score Anderson and Womack putting the score at 12-0.
  • D'Arco scored on a Glaubke line out to first while Sinnett doubled to left center to score Goldyn for the 14th run.
  • Guilford scored a single run to fend off the shutout in the bottom of the fifth putting the final score at 14-1 in the Marlins favor.

  • Game two began with VWU putting three runs up in the top of the first starting with Jessica Goldyn crossing the plate. 
  • A double by Danielle Stewart scored Julia Sinnett while a Katelyn Biando single to right field scored Stewart.
  • The Marlins added three more runs in the top of the second as Madison Glaubke homered, her second of the day, to score Goldyn for a pair of runs. 
  • Sinnett scored the third run after Daja Burgee grounded out to third base as the score moved up to 6-0.
  • Glaubke homered for the third time scoring Goldyn again in the process moving the score up to 8-0 after three innings.
  • The last two Marlin scores came off a Sinnett double to leftfield which scored Goldyn and Glaubke.
  • Guilford hit a three run homer in the bottom of the fifth and one run in the sixth but ran out of time as the Marlins won 10-4 per the mercy rules.

  • Madison Glaubke homered twice in the game, both scoring two runs, to collect four RBI in the game.
  • Julia Sinnett added a pair of RBI and scored twice on one hit in three at-bats.
