- Randolph-Macon put a single run on the board in the top of the first to get the scoring underway.
- The Marlins responded with a tying run in the bottom half as Katelyn Biando hit a sac ground out to score Jessica Goldyn.
- Neither team scored in the next three innings despite Randolph-Macon leaving two stranded and Virginia Wesleyan leaving three on base.
- The Yellow Jackets left runners on second and third in the top of the fifth, while the Marlins put up three run including two that scored on a Biando double to left center field.
- RMC was kept off the board in the top of the sixth while Madison Glaubke scored off a Karlee Fretz double to put VWU ahead 5-1 and giving the Marlins the win.

- Virginia Wesleyan got the game going with a run in the bottom of the first inning on a single by Biando that scored Goldyn.
- The Marlins left the bases loaded in the bottom of the second but bounced back in the bottom of the fourth as Madison Glaubke, Kayla Womack, and Karlee Fretz all crossed home plate putting VWU in the lead 4-0.
- RMC had a big top of the fourth putting three runs on the board including two that came in on a double to center field and closing the Marlin lead to one run, 4-3.
- The Yellow Jackets sent the next six Marlin batters back in order and knotted the score at four all in the top of the sixth.
- Neither team scored in the remaining innings as the teams exhausted the regulation seven innings and went into the eighth tied at four all.
- RMC added a fifth run in the top of the eighth as the runner placed on second scored on a long single to right field to go ahead 5-4.
- VWU responded in the bottom of the eighth tying the score at five all as Glaubke crossed the plate but left a runner on third heading into the ninth.
- Before the first pitch of the ninth inning the umpires met and called the game as darkness was setting quickly on TowneBank Park ending the game in a 5-5 draw.
