VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's basketball team defeated the Saints of Marymount University 89-57 on Saturday afternoon at TowneBank Arena in Virginia Beach, VA.
Jordan Crump had a career-game with 28 points.

The Marlins started things off with back to back three pointers, one from
Miles Wallace and the other
Jordan Crump, to take a 6-0 lead. After the Saints found the scoreboard off their own three, Virginia Wesleyan put together four points taking a seven point lead, 10-3. Over the next six minutes, Marymount went ona 14-10 run pulling within three points, 20-17, with 11:44 remaining in the half. The Saints came within three points once more, 22-19, but the Marlins pulled away taking a 12 point lead, 31-19, after a 9-0 run with seven minutes on the clock. VWU's lead grew to 14 points at its highest, 35-21, and the Marlins headed into halftime with a ten-point lead with the score sitting at 43-33.
Marymount scored five points in the opening six minutes of the second half while Virginia Wesleyan put up 15 of their own taking a 20-point lead, 58-38, at the 13:21 mark. Over the next six minutes, VWU increased its lead to 31 points, 78-47, following a jumper
Kelvin Nicholson with 6:50 on the clock. The teams closed out the remainder of the game on an 11-10 run with the Marlins holding an 89-57 lead at the final buzzer to claim the victory.
MARLIN LEADERS
The Marlins were led by
Jordan Crump with a career-high 28 points on the afternoon as he went five for five from behind the three-point arch.
Tim Fisher added 19 points, shooting 100% from the field (8-8) and going three for three at the free throw line while also bringing down 10 rebounds. Fisher also recorded a team-high six assists in the game.
SAINTS LEADERS
The Saints were led by Zamir Clifton with 15 points while Xavier Reaves added 10 as the only other Saint in double figures.
