Marlins Launch #HELPUSPLAY Campaign

VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - In an effort to safely return to competition and defray the expenses associated with department wide COVID-19 testing, Virginia Wesleyan Athletics is launching the #HELPUSPLAY fundraising campaign.  Aimed at mitigating the cost of testing as it relates to the NCAA's mandated return to play protocol, the #HELPUSPLAY campaign will assist in funding the cost of testing for all 22 sports at Virginia Wesleyan amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This will be an enormous financial challenge for our University and the athletic department is committed to getting the athletes back on the fields, the courts, the track, the course, and in the pool," Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Joanne Renn said.  "That is where they want to be."

Since the return to campus in August, Virginia Wesleyan athletes have safely participated in a progressive practice schedule in all sports in anticipation of competing from January 23, 2021 through May.

"While the NCAA has presented this department wide difficulty, the coaches and athletes at VWU have embraced the situation as one team," Renn stated with pride.  "Now, more than ever, we need all of Marlin Nation to support #HELPUSPLAY."

Those interested in making a gift to the #HELPUSPLAY campaign can do so here.  For questions or more information regarding the #HELPUSPLAY campaign or Marlin Athletics contact Joanne Renn at jrenn@vwu.edu.
