Roberts was named the VaSID 2021 Male Field Athlete of the Year as well as the Male Rookie Field Athlete of the Year after earning All-American honors at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet in late May. The sophomore from Ridgely, MD, competed in his first outdoor season, as the 2020 outdoor season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and set the bar high walking away from the National Meet with a sixth place finish in the men's triple jump. The sixth-place finish is the highest of any VWU male athlete at the national meet surpassing Randy Lott's ('14) seventh place finish in the 100M dash.
Roberts finished sixth place with a mark of 14.73M (a personal & school record) in the triple jump to claim All-America honors while also finishing 11th in the long jump with a distance of 6.82M. He was named a USTFCCCA All-Region honoree in both the long and triple jump, Roberts named was the 2021 ODAC Outdoor T&F Field Athlete of the Meet after claiming the individual championship in long (7.19M) and triple jump (14.33M).
