Dr. Richmond Letterio, PT, DPT returned to the Virginia Wesleyan coaching staff prior to the 2017 after previous serving the team from 2012-14 when he worked with the field athletes. Letterio returns as the strength coach for the men's and women's programs while also assisting the field event coaches.
During the 2021-22 indooor and outdoor seasons, Letterio assisted in coaching a trio of athletes that qualified for the NCAA Division III National Meets in Geni Roberts, Landry Moffo, and Jaylyn Lane. Under Letterio's supervision, Roberts claimed All-American honors three times, including a pair of National Runner Up finishes in long jump during the indoor season and triple jump for the outdoor season. In addition, four Marlins won a combined 11 ODAC Individual Titles in 2021-22 between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Richmond, a 2012 graduate of Virginia Wesleyan, was a decathlete and pole vaulter as a collegiate athlete. Following his time at VWU, Letterio graduated from the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Lynchburg College in 2017 and recently passed his licensing exam. During his time in PT school, he interned at STAR Physical Therapy, the largest physical therapy organization in New York City.
Most recently, he has interned with the San Francisco Giants in Scottsdale, Ariz., where he worked the entire spring training camp.
He is employed as a physical therapist for CHKD Sports Medicine.
