Josh Freeman

Josh Freeman joined the Virginia Wesleyan University softball coaching staff for the 2017 season after multiple seasons in the high school and travel ball circuits.

Freeman served as the manager of the Hampton Roads Vipers Fastpitch Softball Club from 2009 to 2016, also spending time at several schools. He was the head coach of the Green Run High School varsity team in 2015 and 2016 after serving as the JV head coach for two seasons.

From 2006-09, Josh held the role of head coach of the middle and high school soccer teams at Chesapeake Bay Academy while also serving as head coach of the Bayside Middle School baseball team.

Freeman led the Vipers to the ASA Eastern Nationals Championship while also qualifying for multiple nationally recognized tournaments. Adding to his success, Josh led Green Run to the VHSL Conference Playoffs. His student-athletes at Green Run, as well as with the Vipers, have a 100% college acceptance rate.

Freeman graduated with a B.S. in communications from East Carolina University in 2000. Josh and his wife, Melissa, have one child, Lauren.
