- "I made Virginia Wesleyan my top choice because I liked the positive atmosphere of the school and the camaraderie of the soccer team. I thought the school was a good fit for me and allowed me to continue playing soccer in college."

2014-15 ODAC All-Academic Team

Sophomore (2014): Played in one match as a sophomore, seeing 7:43 in net in Virginia Wesleyan’s 3-1 victory at Shenandoah University on October 11.

First-Year (2013): Appeared in goal on five different occasions as a first-year… Made at least one save in four of those contests… His first college start came in a 2-2 draw at N.C. Wesleyan College, where he made three saves.

Academic Accomplishments: Presidential Scholarship recipient… Dean's List honoree spring 2014.

Before VWC: First Team All-Concorde District goalkeeper as a senior… Recorded a 1.33 goals against average as a senior and a 1.50 average for his high school career… Recipient of a Scholar-Athlete Award… Also competed for the SYA Revolution club team.

Personal: Son of Angela and Scott Hoernke… Dad attended San Diego State University, mom attended California State University at San Marcos… Has one sister, Ciara.
