Shambach joined the staff in spring 2016 after a successful coaching career at the United States Naval Academy, where he served as the assistant coach for the women's program from 2010 up until his arrival at Virginia Wesleyan. He also held the position of men's soccer assistant coach from 2010 to 2014.
He helped the women's soccer program to an 80-32-16 record in six years, including a 29-9-10 mark in Patriot League play. He helped Navy to two regular season championships, three Patriot League finals appearances, and two more semifinal games.
Shambach coached two All-Americans, nine All-Region selections, and 30 All-Conference players.
He was just as impressive on the men's side, helping the Midshipmen to a 51-27-19 record in his five years, including a 21-9-9 mark in league play. The men's soccer program won the Patriot League regular season and tournament titles in 2013, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Navy's 16 wins in 2013 set a school record and its 15-match winning streak was the longest in the country.
Two Navy men's soccer players earned All-American accolades under Shambach, with 11 earning All-Region nods, and 19 placing on the All-Conference squad.
Prior to his time at Navy, Shambach was an assistant coach from 2007-09 at Messiah College where he helped the Falcons to national championships in 2008 and 2009, making it to the national semifinals in 2007.
Coaching the goalkeepers, he mentored two goalies to NCAA Final Four MVP honors.
He also serves currently as a staff coach for the United States National Team Training Centers where he works with administrators to select and train the U12-U16 girls from the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Dustin graduated from Messiah College in 2006 where he played soccer for the Falcons. He was a two-year captain, three-time national champion, two-time All-American, and two-time first team all-conference.
