Riley Taylor

  • Title
    Assistant Field Hockey Coach
Taylor joined the Virginia Wesleyan University field hockey staff in the summer of 2024.

A native of Virginia Beach, Coach Taylor Williams brings a wealth of experience and insight to her role. A standout forward at Old Dominion University, Taylor’s exceptional talent was evident as she tallied 40 points and earned a spot on the Second Team All-Big East. Despite a season-ending knee injury, she excelled in the 2021 season, ranking second in the Big East Conference in assists per game (0.89), fifth in points per game (2.00), and eighth in goals per game (0.56). Had she met the minimum games played requirement, Taylor would have been second nationally in assists per game. Her experiences at ODU culminated in a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management.

After graduating from ODU, Taylor continued her athletic journey at Penn State University, where she played her COVID year. Her contributions were instrumental in the Nittany Lions' triumph in the Big Ten Conference and their advancement to the NCAA Tournament Final Four. Following her college career, Taylor ventured to England, competing with the Ben Rhydding Hockey Club in the Northern Hockey League. Her European experience also sparked her interest in sports psychology, leading her to research the impact of injuries on competitive athletes’ eating attitudes. This research culminated in a master’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sport Psychology from Penn State University.
