• Competed in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field, volleyball, soccer, and tennis at Thomas Dale High School
• Helped guide the cross country team to a 7-0 record, a Central District championship and sixth place finish at the Central Region meet as a senior
• Indoor track placed second at the district meet and outdoor track finished 6-1 and placed second at the district meet, both his senior season
• Posted a time of 10:47.25 to place fourth in the 32000 meter run in 2012 outdoor Central District meet
• All-district honoree in the 1600 meter indoor and 3200 outdoor event
• Posted a time of 19:43.75 in the 5K Central Region cross country championship meet as a senior

Personal

• Son of Edie and Jerry Higgins; dad attended Oklahoma State University and mom attended John Tyler Community College
• Has two siblings, Sam and Ruth
• Enjoys Christian contemporary and alternative music and spending vacation time at the Outer Banks of North Carolina
• Favorites include the book "The Unlikely Disciple," the movie "The Amazing Spiderman,"  the TV series "The Office" and actor Steve Carrel
• A fan of pro football's Tim Tebow, pro basketball's Oklahoma City Thunder, and Pittsburgh's pro sports teams the Penguins (hockey), the Pirates (baseball), and the Steelers (football)
• Self-description in 10 words or less:  "friendly, nice, competitive, determined, energetic"
• My favorite aspect of being an athlete is: "the competition."
• The part of my game I've improved the most is: "holding a consistent pace."
• My personal athletic goal at VWC is: "to help push the team to nationals."
• If I could spend one day with a famous person from any time period it would be: "Tim Tebow. I would like to know what it is like to get constant criticism from the media and football fans everywhere because of how open he is about his faith."
• If I could participate in a reality show it would be: "The Office, because they always seem to have a good time."
• If I could possess one superpower it would be: "teleportation, so I could go see my friends at other colleges whenever I wanted to."
• People might be surprised to know: "I don't enjoy having too much time to myself.  I'm very social."
• It's the year 2025 and : "I'm the pastor at a church somewhere in Virginia."
