Women's Swimming Competes in Double Dual Meet

The Virginia Wesleyan women's swimming team competed in a double dual meet at Chowan University. 

The Marlins won first place in five events. Emery Garza, Abigail Carlson, Audrey Roberts, and Lauren Hendricks highlighted the 200 Meter Medley Relay with a first place finish. Emery Garza, Audrey Roberts, Mia Battistic, and Lauren Hendricks took first in the 400 Meter Freestyle Relay. Garza also earned first place in the 200 Meter Backstroke; and Abigail Carlson finished on top in both the 50 Meter and 100 Meter Breaststroke.

Emery Garza, Abigail Carlson, Audrey Roberts, and Lauren Hendricks captured first in the 200 Meter Medley Relay with a time of 2:15.60. In the same race, Erin Beaudry, MariKlaire Morris Larkin, Ally Peck, and Sarah Verbeck came third with a time of 2:24.08.

In the 400 Meter Freestyle Relay, Emery Garza, Audrey Roberts, Mia Battistic, and Lauren Hendricks came in first with a time of 4:28.91. Sarah Verbeck, Abigail Carlson, Sarah Czapp, and Ally Peck swam the same race and ranked third with a time of 4:47.29.

Abigail Carlson topped the 50 Meter Breaststroke and the 100 Meter Breaststroke with times of 38.63 and 1:24.97, respectively. 

Emery Garza had an impressive first place finish in the 50 Meter Backstroke with a time of 33.26. In the 100 Meter Breastroke, she came in second with a time of 1:28.79.

Erin Beaudry won second place in the 100 Meter Freestyle with a time of 1:08.93. She came in third in the 200 Meter Freestyle with a time of 2:30.03. She swam the 200 Meter Individual Medley in 2:48.68.

Sarah Czapp won second in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 30.87. Czapp was fourth in the 100 Meter Breaststroke with a time of 1:39.05. She finished fourth in the 400 Meter Freestyle with a time of 5:35.71. 

Lauren Hendricks claimed second in the 50 Meter Backstroke with a time of 34.62. 

MariKlaire Morris Larkin won second place in the 50 Meter Breastroke with a time of 39.06. In the 200 Meter Individual Medley she also had a second place finish with a time of 2:47.80. She also competed in the 400 Meter Freestyle, finishing third with a time of 5:19.59. 

Ally Peck came in second in the 100 Meter Butterfly with a time of 1:25.28. In the 50 Meter Butterfly she claimed third with a time of 34.99. 

Mia Battistic swam the 100 Meter Freestyle and finished in third with a time of 1:12.24. Battistic also claimed third in the 100 Meter Backstroke with a time of 1:26.78. She had a fourth place finish in the 200 Meter Freestyle with a time of 2:35.68.

Audrey Roberts swam a close race in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 31.03, coming in third less than two seconds behind the first place finisher. She recorded a fourth place finish in the 50 Meter Butterfly with a time of 35.56. 

Sarah Verbeck came in fourth in the 50 Meter Breaststroke with a time of 44.24 and fifth in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 33.12.

The women will return to competition next Saturday, February 1 in a dual meet against Randolph-Macon College.
