Strong Singles Play Push Marlins Past Randolph

The Virginia Wesleyan University women's tennis team (8-9, 4-3 ODAC) defeated conference opponent Randolph 6-3.

The match started as, Tuva Flink and Sophie Engelberts faced off against Lena Kersten and Sabrina Dickerson in a competitive No. 1 doubles match, but ultimately fell short with a final score of 5-8.

Mikisha Thomas and Shannon Lewes displayed strong teamwork and secured a victory against Noura Elkhansa and Gianna Cabrera with a decisive score of 8-3.

Kristina Abrams and Haley Haydon engaged in a tight battle against Amanda Jagdeo and Maddie Mills but unfortunately lost in a close match with a final score of 7-8. To put the Cougars up 2-1

In the singles matches, Tuva Flink faced tough opposition from Lena Kersten in the No. 1 spot and fell short with a final score of 2-6, 0-6, giving Randolph a 3-1 

Sophie Engelberts showcased her skills and secured a victory in the No. 2 spot, against Sabrina Dickerson, winning with a final score of 6-3, 6-3. Mikisha Thomas demonstrated her prowess on the court and defeated Noura Elkhansa with a solid performance, winning with a final score of 6-4, 6-2.

Shannon Lewes displayed dominance in her No. 4 match against Maddie Mills, securing a victory with a commanding performance and a final score of 6-2, 6-0.

Sophia Bibbo engaged in a closely contested No. 5 match against Molly McNair, ultimately emerging victorious with a final score of 6-4, 4-6, 10-7. Haley Haydon showcased her skill and determination, securing a convincing victory against Amanda Jagdeo with a flawless performance and a final score of 6-0, 6-0.

Overall, the team displayed strong teamwork and individual performances to secure the 6-3 win over conference opponent Randolph.
