The Virginia Wesleyan University women's tennis team (6-7, 3-2 ODAC) played two ODAC matches, defeating Ferrum 9-0, and losing to Sweet Briar 0-9.
Match One:
The first match against Ferrum went by quickly, as
Mikisha Thomas and
Sophie Engelberts won their doubles match 8-1, and
Shannon Lewes and
Sophia Bibbo won the No. 2 doubles match 8-1. Ferrum forfeited the No. 3 doubles match.
Sophie Engelberts won in the No. 1 singles spot 6-0, 6-0,
Sophia Bibbo won in the No. 2 spot 6-3, 6-3, and
Haley Haydon won in the No. 3 spot 6-2, 6-0.
Grace McGhee took the win in the No. 4 spot winning 6-0, 6-3, and
Chloe Scott won in the No. 5 singles match 6-0, 6-0.
Ferrum forfeited their No. 6 singles match.
Match Two:
In the second match against Sweet Briar, the No. 3 doubles duo of
Haley Haydon and
Kristina Abrams lost 0-8,
Shannon Lewes and
Mikisha Thomas lost the No. 2 doubles 1-8, and
Tuva Flink and
Sophie Engelberts narrowly lost in the No. 1 doubles match 6-8.
Tuva Flink lost the No. 1 singles match 2-6, 0-6,
Sophie Engelberts fought hard in the No. 2 spot but fell 3-6, 2-6, and
Mikisha Thomas went down 3-6, 1-6 in the No. 3 singles match.
Shannon Lewes fell in the No. 4 singles match 4-6, 1-6.
Sophia Bibbo lost 2-6, 1-6 in the No. 4 spot and
Haley Haydon lost 2-6, 2-6 in the No. 6 singles match.
