Marlins hold No. 20 Lynchburg scoreless in second half

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Marlins field hockey team fell to the No. 20 Hornets from the University of Lynchburg 5-0 on Wednesday evening at Birdsong Field in Virginia Beach, Va.

FIRST HALF
The Hornets struck early scoring on a penalty stroke about three minutes into the game. VWU held LYN for nine minutes before the Hornets scored their second goal, and a third was scored just before the first quarter ended. Lynchburg added two more goals in the second quarter taking a 5-0 lead into the halftime break.

SECOND HALF
The Marlins defense played extremely well in the second half as they held the Hornets scoreless in both the third and fourth quarters. Lynchburg took 18 shots in the final two frames with Emma Wehr making five saves.
