Men's Soccer falls 1-0 in double overtime to the Ferrum Panthers

VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's soccer team fell to the Panthers of Ferrum College on Sunday afternoon at Birdsong Field in Virginia Beach, VA.

FIRST HALF

  • The first half saw neither team find the back of the net despite 14 shots from the Marlins and four from the Panthers. 

SECOND HALF

  • Ferrum controlled the ball a majority of the second half as the Panthers took 14 shots while VWU got off nine as the teams ended regulation with a nil-nil tie.
OVERTIME
  • Both teams fought more aggressively to find a score but found the first ten minute overtime period was not enough and headed into a second OT.
  • Ferrum recorded the game winning goal 50 seconds into the second overtime period giving the Panthers the 1-0 victory.

  • Scott Signorelli led the team with six shots while Alex Moody was close behind with five.
  • Griffin Potter played all 100:50 minutes making nine saves while giving up one goal.
