Jesse Weiner was named Director of Cross Country and Track & Field at Virginia Wesleyan University in the Fall of 2019. Prior to joining VWU, he spent eight years as the head coach of cross country and track and field at Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, WV.

Despite an unusual 2019-20 year,

Weiner brings 11 years of coaching experience to Virginia Beach. Most recently, he directed the cross country and track and field teams at NCAA Division II Alderson Broaddus University where he guided the Battlers since 2011. While with ABU, Weiner led both the men's and women's teams to their highest outdoor Great Midwest Athletic Championship finish in school history while coaching numerous All-Conference performers. Weiner's teams also found success in the classroom as he has coached his teams to United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaching Association (USTFCCCA) Academic All-American status in nearly every season.

Before ABU, Weiner served as assistant coach for the Adrian College (MI) men's and women's track and field teams. The Bulldogs had numerous NCAA Division III national qualifiers and 16 earned titles as Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champions during his tenure.

A Pennsylvania native, Weiner earned a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in sport management and hotel restaurant management and a master's degree in sports management from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania. He ran cross country and track for the Warriors while pursuing his undergraduate degree and coached while obtaining his graduate degree. Weiner holds a USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification and Level 2 Certification Sprints, Hurdles and Relays.
