Women's XC Takes Fourth at CNU Invite

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University women's cross country team competed in the CNU XC Invite Saturday afternoon hosted by Christopher Newport University. The team placed fourth overall with an average 6K time of 27:55.50.

Leading the Marlin pack was Haley Witt, who clocked a 26:34.88. The time was good enough to earn her 12th in a field that included both Division II and Division III teams. Next to cross the finish line was Marranda Hansford, who placed 22nd with a time of 27:41.34.

A pair of Marlins finished next as Emily Petsko and Destiny Kinka claimed 26th and 27th, respectively. Petsko dialed in a 28:07.14 while her sophomore teammate came across in 28:34.50. Kayleen Meinen was not too far behind either as her 28:39.61 earned her 29th.

Women's cross country will return to action again on Nov. 2nd as the team heads back to Salem, Va. for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships.
