Matalus Named Conference Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. – Amber Matalus of the Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Week for the week ending on November 4th, 2019.

Matalus displayed offensive dominance as she helped the Marlins go 4-0 to close out the regular season. The senior registered double-digit kills in three of the four victories as her 18 against regionally-ranked Christopher Newport University tied a career high. Against Salisbury on Saturday, Matalus also performed well at the service line as she racked up four service aces.

Defensively, the Colorado Springs, Colo. native pitched in as well as she picked up 12 blocks and 13 digs.

On the season, Matalus ranks in the conference's top-10 in total kills (310), kills per set (2.82) and attack percentage (.328).

Volleyball returns to action at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday as the second-seeded Marlins host #7 Roanoke in the first round of the ODAC Championship.
