  • Volleyball Prepped for NCAA Championship

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to compete at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional in Memphis, Tenn. on Saturday. Both races will be ran at Shelby Farms with the men set to go off at 11:30 a.m. and the women at 12:45 p.m.
  • Volleyball Opens Up NCAAs Against Juniata in Newport News, Va.

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University will be heading to nearby Newport News, Va. for the 2019 NCAA Championship Tournament. The Marlins (seeded fifth) have drawn Juniata College (seeded fourth) in the opening round match which will be played at 12:30 p.m. on Friday on the campus of Christopher Newport University.
  • Five From Volleyball Tabbed All-ODAC; Hoover-Erbig Named Coach of the Year

    FOREST, Va. – Five members of Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team were named to the 2019 All-Conference Teams by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). Amber Matalus earned a spot on the First Team while Greta Coss was an All-ODAC Second Team Selection. Lauren Topper, Alyssa Taylor and Haley Sutton were all named to the Third Team. Also receiving recognition for her performance was Coach Andrea Hoover-Erbig who was tabbed the conference’s Coach of the Year.
  • Volleyball Clinches First ODAC Championship Crown in Program History

    ASHLAND, Va. – For the first time in program history, the Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team was crowned champions of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) as the team defeated top-seeded Randolph-Macon, 3-1 (25-17, 15-25, 25-17, 29-27), on the road Saturday evening. With the victory, the Marlins move to 28-7 on the season and earn the conference’s automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Championship. Their opponent for the NCAA Championship will be announced at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
  • Volleyball Punches Championship Final Ticket with Sweep of Guilford

    ASHLAND, Va. - The second-seeded Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team dropped #3 Guilford, 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-14), Friday evening in the semifinal of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship. With the victory, the Marlins improve to 27-7 on the year. The team will now square off against top-seeded Randolph-Macon in the Final which will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Ashland, Va. 
  • Volleyball Breaks Program Win Record With Playoff Win Over Roanoke

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The second-seeded Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team dropped #7 Roanoke in straight sets (25-17, 25-11, 25-19) in the first round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship Wednesday evening played in the Jane P. Batten Student Center. With the win, the Marlins improve to 26-7, marking the most wins in program history.

    NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team closed out their regular season with a pair of wins at the Christopher Newport Tournament on Saturday. The squad dropped Salisbury University, 3-1, before taking down the host Captains in a thrilling five-set win in match two. With the results, the Marlins end their regular season with an overall record of 24-7.
  • Volleyball Smothers NCWC on Senior Night

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team defeated North Carolina Wesleyan University, 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-20), Wednesday evening on Senior Night. With the victory, the Marlins improve to 22-7 on the year while the Battling Bishops slide to 10-21.
  • Volleyball Swats Hornets in Straight Sets

    LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team defeated Lynchburg in straight sets (25-19, 32-30, 25-19) Wednesday evening on the road. With the victory, the Marlins improve to 10-2 in conference play while moving to 21-8 on the season. Lynchburg goes to 14-8 on the year (5-5 ODAC). 
  • Volleyball Hits 20-Win Mark with Tri-Match Split

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team split its two matches on the day, falling to Washington and Lee, 3-1, in the opening match before defeating Hollins, 3-1, in match two. With the results, the Marlins move to 20-7 on the season and move to 9-2 in conference play.
  • Volleyball Notches Key ODAC Win Over Bridgewater

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team handed Bridgewater a 3-1 (23-25, 26-24, 25-21, 25-23) loss at the Jane P. Batten Student Center on Wednesday evening. With the victory, the Marlins improve to 18-6 on the season and improve to 7-1 in conference play. Bridgewater falls to 19-3 on the year and take their first ODAC loss (7-1).
  • Volleyball Sweeps Ferrum at Home

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team swept Ferrum, 3-0 (25-10, 25-12, 25-20), Saturday morning in the Jane P. Batten Student Center. With the victory, the Marlins improve to 18-6 on the year and 7-1 in conference play. Ferrum falls to 3-15 on the year and remain winless in ODAC play (0-8).
  • Volleyball Drops Close Battle with Randolph-Macon

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team battled tough in a 3-1 (25-18, 25-19, 16-25, 25-23) loss to Randolph-Macon Tuesday evening at the Jane P. Batten Student Center. With the result, the Marlins are handed their first conference loss of the year (6-1) and move to 17-6 overall. The Yellow Jackets improve to 13-3 on the year and remain unbeaten in ODAC play (7-0).

The Marlins toppled Emory & Henry in straight sets before defeating Guilford, 3-0, in the day’s second match. With the results, the Marlins go to 15-4 on the year and 5-0 in conference action.

    BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team narrowly fell, 3-2 (21-25, 25-18, 25-19, 11-25, 17-15), to Southern Virginia University Tuesday evening on the road. With the loss, the Marlins go to 13-4 on the season while Southern Virginia moves to 10-4.

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team along with the men’s and women’s golf teams has announced its Top Golf Fundraiser Tournament for the fall. The event will take place at 3 p.m. on November 3rd at Top Golf Virginia Beach.

    WINCHESTER, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team dropped both Shenandoah and Alvernia University in straight sets Saturday afternoon on the road. With the victories, the Marlins improve to 13-3 on the season and 4-0 in ODAC play.

    LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team cruised to its second-straight 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-19) victory Friday night as the team blanked Randolph on the road. With the win, the Marlins improve to 11-3 on the season and move to 3-0 in conference play. Randolph slides to 5-5 on the season (1-2 ODAC).

    HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team hopped back into the win column as they dropped Eastern Mennonite, 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-21),, on the road. With the victory the Marlins improve to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Eastern Mennonite goes to 7-3 on the season (1-1).

    FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team dropped both of its matches Saturday afternoon at the Mary Washington Tournament. The Marlins dropped their first game 3-0 to Washington and Lee before falling by the same score to host Mary Washington. With the day’s results, the Marlins move to 9-3 on the season.

With the loss the Marlins move to 9-1 on the season while Hopkins remains unbeaten at 5-0.

Batten Student Center. With the victory, the Marlins improve to 9-0 on the season and pick up their first ODAC victory. Roanoke slides to 5-4 on the season (0-1 ODAC).
