ARLINGTON, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team dropped its first road match of the year to the University of Mary Washington, 3-1, Tuesday evening. WIth the loss, the Marlins go to 3-2 on the season while the Eagles improve to 5-1.
It the first three sets were each lopsided events, favoring the winner. Mary Washington took the first by a score of 25-14, but Virginia Wesleyan stormed back with a 25-18 win in set two. The Eagles once again regained the lead though, taking set three 25-10. The fourth and final set was the outlier as the teams battled the whole way but Mary Washington came away with the 25-23 victory, securing the match.
Volleyball will be back in action again on Saturday with a pair of matches against Wheaton (Ill.) and Marymount.
