  • Women's Soccer Nabs Five All-ODAC Spots; Crawford Tabbed Rookie of the Year

    FOREST, Va. – Five members of the Virginia Wesleyan University women’s soccer team were named All-Conference by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) for their performances over the 2019 season. Shae Geary and Mia Meinhardt both earned spots on the First Team, while Kennedi Anders was tabbed a Second Teamer. Camryn Terry and Sam Crawford both earned Third Team recognition while Crawford was also crowned the ODAC’s Rookie of the Year.

    ASHLAND, Va. – The third-seeded Virginia Wesleyan University women’s soccer team dropped #2 Washington and Lee, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) semifinal. With the win, the Marlins improve to 13-3-3 on the year and will now square off against top-seeded Randolph-Macon in the Championship Final. That game will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

With the win, the Marlins improve to 12-3-3 on the season while the Hornets finish their season at 12-8-0.

With the result, the Marlins improve to 11-3-3 on the year and end the regular season with an ODAC record of 7-2-1.

With the victory, the Marlins improve to 10-3-3 on the season, marking the 19th-straight year the team has hit double-digit wins. They also improve to 6-2-1 in ODAC action.

  • Lindo's Double Overtime Winner Seals Victory for Women's Soccer

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – In her first game as a Marlin, Gabrielle Lindo played the role of hero. With time running down in a 1-1, double-overtime game, Lindo corralled a Rory Donahue throw-in just across the midfield line. She then beat her defender down the sideline before cutting in, angling her way to the top of the 18-yard box. With a defender still on her, the freshman slammed the breaks allowing the defender to bypass her. Now one-on-one with a charging keeper, the freshman calmly chipped a ball over the netminder’s head to earn a victory with just 66 ticks of the clock left.

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University women’s soccer team has announced its schedule for the 2019 season. The Marlins have 18 regular season games scheduled, with 10 of them slated to be played at their home field, the Trinder Center.
