FOREST, Va. – Two Virginia Wesleyan University student-athletes were named to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's (ODAC) weekly honor roll for the week ending on March 31, 2019. Hanna Hull of the softball team earned her fifth Pitcher of the Week award of the season while Tori Manahan of the women's lacrosse squad nabbed her first ever Player of the Week honor.
Hull dominated from the circle over the weekend, picking up three wins to improve to 15-1 on the season. In the 7-2 victory over Emory & Henry on Saturday, the junior tossed all 7.0 innings, allowing just three hits and striking out 10. She then finished out game two of the series against the Wasps, punching out four over the final 2.1 frames. She'd finish out the weekend with an 11 'K' outing against Guilford on Sunday, allowing just two hits over the full 7.0 innings. Hull has currently tallied 170 strikeouts, which leads not only the conference but also the nation (next closest is St' Olaf's Julie Graf with 148). Her 0.40 ERA also leads all of Division III.
Manahan had a tremendous week for the Marlins, helping the squad pick up two key conference victories. In the 10-9 overtime victory over Bridgewater on Wednesday, the junior came away with four points on two goals and two assists. She then exceeded that with a five-point performance against Guilford, registering four goals and one helper. This year, Manahan leads the squad in total points (31) and is tied for seventh in the conference for total goals (25).
Softball returns to action again at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday as the squad heads to North Carolina Wesleyan College for a doubleheader. Women's lacrosse will take to the field at 1 p.m. on Saturday as the team travels to Randolph for another ODAC contest.
