Men's Tennis Finishes Its Season With Semifinal Loss

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's tennis team finished up its season as it fell to Washington and Lee, 5-0, Saturday afternoon in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) semifinals. The squad finishes its season with a record of 13-5.

Washington and Lee excelled in doubles, capturing wins at all three slots. Michael Portera and Paul Gladstone fought valiantly, taking four games off their foes, but were not able to come up with the win.

After the Generals swept the doubles action, the Marlins were beginning to gain some traction in singles. At sixth singles, Portera claimed the first set 6-4 and was tied 2-2 in the second as the match was called on decision. Anthony Wilson was also grinding out a solid performance at fifth as the freshman was tied 6-6 in the first set at the conclusion of the day.
