Men's Swimming Competes in Day One of Yellow Jacket Invite

RICHMOND Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's swim team competed in Day One of the Yellow Jacket Invite on Saturday which was swam at SwimRVA.

In session one it was Max Currens who stood out as he bested his own record he put up nearly a year ago. The sophomore clocked a 5:32.12 in the 500-yard free, knocking more than six seconds off his previous time.

Two more records would then topple in session two. Caleb Royce continued to impress in just his second meet of the year as his time of 59.26 in the 100yd butterfly shaved .40 seconds off his previous best.

The Marlins also saw a relay benchmark go down, setting the new precedent in the 200yd medley. Tyler Strong, Kyle Woolf, Royce and Currens all teamed up to post a time of 1:46.33 which narrowly edged out last year's mark by just over a half second.

Men's swimming will be back in the pool at 10 a.m. on Sunday for day to of the Yellow Jacket Invite.
