CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Virginia Wesleyan University men's soccer team fell, 2-1, in their home opener against Washington College on Friday afternoon at Roy Kirby Jr Stadium.
Washington College got on the board first as they quickly put one in in the 10th minute. The lead did not last long though as freshman Jaron Berry netted a goal for the Marlins just under four minutes later. Will Augsberger sent a ball into the box that found Berry and the Norfolk, Va. native was able to drive it home. A free kick by the home side in the 30th minute was the difference make though as the Marlins took a defeat in their first game of the year.
Griffin Potter got the call between the pipes, stopping six of the Shoremen attempts.
Men's soccer returns to action again at 1 p.m. on Saturday as the team faces off against Allegheny back in Chestertown, Md.
