VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan College men's soccer team tied with Roanoke College Saturday night in a chippy Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest.

The Marlins Ricky Perrault narrowly missed the goal with a header shot at the 11:43 mark in the first half. Just moments later, the Maroons' Tim Mahabir took a corner kick and his attempt almost landed in the goal, but the Marlins defenders made a big stop.

Play throughout the match was chippy with the Marlins being tagged with 21 fouls on the night and the Maroons committing 11 fouls. Five yellow cards were given out tonight with the Marlins holding a 3-2 advantage. Late in the second overtime period, Marlins Andrew Duenke and Roanoke College's Orestis Ilias got tangled up and both were assessed yellow cards.

Virginia Wesleyan put up 10 shots on goals and the Maroons shot five times on goal. Roanoke College's (6-4-3/3-0-2) goalie, Nick Tadros earned 10 saves on the day for the Maroons. Jay Fox earned five saves, making that his eighth consecutive game with at least three saves.

The Marlins (6-4-3, 2-1-2) travel to Harrisonburg on Wednesday to take on ODAC foe, Eastern Mennonite (5-7-4, 0-3-2) for a 7:30 p.m. start time.
