VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Washington and Lee University scored early on in Sunday's contest, adding two more tallies in the second half to hand Virginia Wesleyan College its first loss, 3-1, in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

The game, originally scheduled for Saturday night at 7 p.m. was moved to Sunday at 3 p.m. due to heavy rain high winds in the Virginia Beach area.

The Generals provided the first score of the game on a corner kick at 3:34 when Austin Gilbert stepped to the flag on the far end of the field. He connected the ball with his left foot, bending it towards the goal and clearly Connor Kirkham's head to post the initial score of the afternoon.

Ricky Perrault evened the score at 57:01 on a cross into the box from Robert Holschuh. It was Perrault's third goal on the season, giving him the team lead in scores despite missing several matches early in the season.

Kevin Molnar scored the game winner six minutes later when he took a pass from Geinda Smith in the middle of the field, dribbled toward the box and made a move to get passed Kirkham and free for the shot.

Smith found another General in the 67th minute when Ben Bayles took the pass, ripped a shot that got past a diving Kirkham, banged off the right post and deflected into the goal.

Both teams had multiple other opportunities to score as a General shot hit the post and an attempt from VWC's Bennett Wiley slammed off the cross bar.

Washington and Lee's Gillen Beck and Kirkham each ended with five saves. W&L (4-2-1/2-0) outshot the Marlins 19-11 on the day while corner kicks were even at three.

Virginia Wesleyan (4-3-1/1-1-1) hosts Shenandoah University (3-4/0-1) on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in an ODAC matchup. The 2015 Homecoming Court will be announced at halftime of the contest as part of Homecoming Weekend.
