BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University men's golf team competed in day one of the Virginia State Golfer's Association (VSGA) Intercollegiate on Monday played at Blacksburg Country Club. The squad finished the day in 16th, posting a 334 (+46).
Jackson Lyons turned in the low score card on the day as he finished with a 76 (+4). The sophomore nailed three birdies on the day, helping him capture a tie for 31st overall. He was followed closely by Taylor Cunningham, who ended the opening round with a 79 (+7). Cunningham recorded a pair of birdies, going one under on the 8th and 17th holes.
Next to come in was Benjamin Diskin who claimed 87th as he registered an 88 (+16). Rounding out the Marlin squad was Noah Phillips (+19) and Chandler Scott (+22), who claimed 89th and 90th, respectively.
Men's golf returns to action again on Tuesday morning to close out the VSGA Intercollegiate.
