VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University men's golf team had a strong outing in the one-day Marlin Invite played on blustery Wednesday afternoon at Cypress Point Country Club. Hosting Southern Virginia University, the Marlins claimed seven of the top eight spots.
Jackson Lyons and Noah Phillips battled their way to a three-way tie for first place overall. The pair both shots a 78 on the day, putting them six strokes over par. Placing fourth was Taylor Cunningham, who was just two strokes behind the leaders.
Next to finish were Chandler Scott and Benjamin Diskin who both turned in scorecards of +9's (81) on the day. Jack Hughes would then claim seventh with his 88 (+16) and one stroke behind him was Jack Mowatt.
Men's golf returns to action again on Monday as the team heads to Blacksburg, Va. for the Virginia State Golfers Association (VGSA) Tournament.
