STAFFORD, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University men's golf team took sixth at the Eagle Invitational hosted by the University of Mary Washington over the weekend. The squad combined to shoot a 658 (+90) over the two-day tournament.
Keith Cooper churned out the low score for the Marlins, taking fifth place overall. The junior shot a 77 on day one before shaving four strokes off the next day for a total of +8. Noah Phillips handed in the next lowest score on the team, shooting a +23 after the two days. He produced his better score of am 81 before dropping to 84 on day two. Right behind him was Chandler Scott, who turned in an round one 80 and a round two 86 for a 166 (+24) two-day result.
Men's golf will return to action on Friday as the team heads to Camp Lejeune, N.C. for the day one of the three-day Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate.
