VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The men's basketball team has released its schedule for the 2018-19 year. The Marlins are slated for a 25-game season with 13 coming at the Jane P. Batten Student Center.

Kicking off the season, the Marlins will go to Old Dominion University for a scrimmage with the Division I Monarchs on November 1. That test will put them in good shape as VWU will host three teams in Messiah University, St. John Fisher College and Greensboro College for the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament. Virginia Wesleyan will take on Greensboro in the opening round on November 17 with the championship and consolation game taking place the next day.

The Marlins remain at home with a game against Salisbury University on November 20. They will then move right into conference play as they host ODAC-foe Guilford five days later.

The squad's first road battle will come on November 28 as the team will square off against Averett University but then its right back to Virginia Beach as they host Washington and Lee (Dec. 1) and University of Mary Washington (Dec. 5).

It's a long road-stint for the Marlins after that though, playing their next seven contests in enemy territory. A conference tilt against Roanoke on December 8 gets the ball rolling followed by a game against nearby rival Christopher Newport University eight days later. Its then south for a game with William Peace University on December 19.

After Christmas break, its back to the court for the Marlins as they take on Moravian in the Moravian College Roosevelt Classic. That game will take place on December 30 with their other game of the Tournament coming against Montclair State the following day.

To end the string of road games, the Marlins will take on Randolph-Macon on January 3 back in Virginia Beach but it does not last long as the team heads to Randolph two days later.

The rest of the way its conference play for VWU, beginning with a home bout against Bridgewater on January 9 followed by an away game against Lynchburg three days later. A pair of home contests come next for the Marlins starting with Eastern Mennonite on January 16 and Ferrum on January 19.

The following week finds the Marlins pitted against two familiar foes in Randolph-Macon and Roanoke. The team will take on the former on January 23 on the road and the later at home on the 26.

Of the team's final five games, the Marlins are on the road for four of them. The first two road games, against Hampden-sydney and Washington and Lee, are on January 30 and Ferbruary 2. The final two road games are against Shenandoah (Feb. 13) and Ferrum (Feb. 16). Sandwiched in-between those two will be a home tilt against Emory & Henry on February 2.
