VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The fourth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team eliminated Ferrum, 8-5, Satrurday afternoon in Game 2 of Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship. With the victory the Marlins improve to 21-15 on the year and will continue on its journey in the ODAC Championship.

It was the Marlins who struck first plating one in the top of the first inning. Dylan Gentry led the side off with a single and was later brought home on a Jordan McDonough on a single through the right side. The lead didn't last long though as the Panthers scored one in the bottom of the frame.
The Marlins regained the lead in the top of the third coutesy of Tyriq Campbell. McDonough got the play going with a double to lead off. After 2 outs Campbell doubled down left field line scoring McDonough from third. Up 2-1, the Marlins really pulled away in the following stanza, piling in six more runs. Daniel Petro was responsible for the first run as he hit a solo shot over the left field fence. Later in the frame McDonough used his third hit of the game to score Gentry. After a Ferrum pitching change Campbell recorded his second double of the game scoring another two runs. Reese Reid would knock in the final run of the inning using a single to score Campbell.
Ferrum registered a couple runs in the final few innings but solid defensive work from the Marlins nullified any chance of a comeback. Jacob Pilarski manned the mound for the first 7.2 innings, picking up his eighth win of the year. The junior punched out ten panthers batters while only issuing two free passes, He was relieved by Adam Brooks who went 0.2 innings and then Jay Crusemire who earned a save for his efforts.
